Final Hoorah!

Our final most wanted destination in Switzerland: the Matterhorn! Just like the Matterhorn ride at Disneyland that several people I have spoken with did not know was a real mountain! It was so awesome! Everything Swiss that I was expecting to see in Switzerland was all down this little street!
It was the perfect day too! The weather was just awesome. We got our regular Migros lunches (sandwiches, chips, and some chocolate) and ate under a shaded tree in cool grass. From where we were we could see the direct view of the mountain! Unfortunately there was this one little cloud that never went away that day. But is was still just as magnificent! This mountain is so unique. It's distinct face and sides pointed upward to what kind of looked like the Grinch mountain! The train ride there was not the most pleasant and was way too long.... but it was worth it. We later got yummy ice cream, looked at some Swiss shops, and had a Swiss-tastic day!

It was a wonderful way to close up our Swiss trip! Iloved it and I am so glad I got to be there with my best friend!! Thanks for taking me here Brett! I seeing all your favorite places, meeting the people, seeing you speak German, living in a new culture, and being able to experience all the wonderful beauties Switzerland has to offer with you!

Until our next great adventure... Tschüss!!!!!

Final Days and Friends

Well we went over to Germany to meet one of Brett's friends from his mission: Conrad. Him and his wife were very hospitable and showed us around the place. We went out to get gelato and I sat there while they spoke German. It is so fun watching Brett speak a different language! We later went to the market with them. They were a funny/little weird couple but we liked hanging out with them. They definitely did not want a picture with us, as you can tell, but we took one anyways. On our way back we had the opportunity to see France across the river and to be by the France door (so we count that we went there right?)

On our last Sunday there, Ruth invited a whole bunch of people from the ward that got to know us, over for a good-bye party. It was filled with yummy cakes, appetizers, and fun friends. We made a lot of friends there and learned from a lot of people. One of our favorite friends were the missionaries: Elder Wilde and Elder Layton. They were fun as we went with them to Sister Somer's house and hung out with them at FHE and church. We hope they continue to be such great characters and are grateful for their service. It was fun hanging out with kind of our own age! They came to our good-bye party and it was weird knowing that we probably will never see them or some of the others again. It was nice to feel loved and supported by so many though. We miss every one already!

Swiss Independence Day

Well I was looking through some of our pictures and I feel like I didn't get to publish some final adventures. We had so many and it was such a great time! We miss that summer!

This was August 3rd I believe, Switzerland's Independence day and Ruth's Birthday. We hiked up Gantrisch that day. It was a beautiful hike, unfortunately there were clouds covering the whole mountain! It was a cool feeling though as we sliced through the clouds to the top of the mountain. On the other side, we caught a glimpse of the mountain range as the clouds shortly encompassed our view shortly after.

Later that night we went to Bern and celebrated Independence day/Ruth's birthday by watching fireworks at the top of a hill. It was a great time! We had all of the Kempa's family over for dinner that following Sunday night where I tried to make them brownies... not from a box!!! Brownies were what Ruth wanted for her birthday. I tried my best, but they didn't quite turn out like the box kind for sure. But they didn't really know the difference! It was a great time hiking and spending time with the Kempa family on this Switzerland Independence Day.
